“Cognitive Dissidents is my first 3-D art show. I have always enjoyed building models and working with miniatures, but over the last 5 years as my drawing and tattoo work has transitioned to digital and became a “job,” miniatures increasingly took over as my creative outlet. I love the idea of enclosed worlds. They have a quality of unreality that is isolated from our touch. The scenes feel living, but unreal, there is something inside of them that I’m not the architect of – I’m just giving them the opportunity to exist. Each piece comes together almost as a stream of consciousness assemblage, as an idea strikes me, and I find themes, scales, locations and elements that when put together, challenge or defy our sense of expected reality.” Seth Goodkind is a tattoo artist at True Love Tattoo and a founding member of Push/Pull, an arts collective in Ballard, Seattle.
